Walking and Cycling

South Ayrshire has some of the best walking and cycling in the country, set amidst spectacular scenery. Nearby are organised mountain bike trails such as the ‘7 Stanes’ with a variety of challenges. In the Galloway Forest Park you can go walking and cycling on the many forest trails including the Stinchar Falls and Barr Trails. There also wonderful coastal walks between Ayr and Stranraer.

Golf

Visit the famous Ayshire championship links courses of Turnberry and Troon. There are also 8 public courses in South Ayrshire of good quality at an affordable price.  It is possible to book tee times so that you can play a number of courses, during your visit.

Gardens

We are only a short drive from some wonderful Gardens, such as the Walled Garden at Culzean Castle, Burns Memorial, Belleisle Conservatory and the renowned gardens at Dumfries House. Whether you are a keen plantsman or woman, a gardening enthusiast or someone who likes to enjoy the fruits of another’s labours, there are several super gardens to visit in the region.

Castles and Historic Sites

No vacation in Scotland would be complete without visiting an ancient Scottish Castle. There are many wonderfully preserved Castles, Abbeys and Country Parks within easy driving distance of Cloncaird Castle, and most have superb gardens and grounds to explore.
